Senior Technical Manager – Information Technology (IT)
Job Summary
The Senior Technical Manager – IT is responsible for leading the design, implementation, support, and optimization of enterprise technology solutions while managing high-performing technical teams. This role serves as a bridge between business objectives and technology execution, ensuring the delivery of secure, scalable, and reliable IT systems and services. The Senior Technical Manager provides technical leadership across infrastructure, applications, cloud platforms, cybersecurity, and digital transformation initiatives while driving operational excellence and innovation.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
Lead the architecture, implementation, and maintenance of enterprise IT systems, infrastructure, and applications.
Provide technical direction and oversight for complex IT projects and strategic technology initiatives.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to improve business performance and operational efficiency.
Establish technical standards, best practices, and governance frameworks across IT environments.
IT Operations & Service Delivery
Oversee daily IT operations to ensure system availability, reliability, performance, and security.
Monitor and improve IT service delivery, incident management, problem resolution, and change management processes.
Ensure compliance with service-level agreements (SLAs) and operational KPIs.
Collaborate with support teams to maintain business continuity and minimize system downtime.
Infrastructure, Cloud & Security Management
Manage enterprise infrastructure, including servers, networks, storage, virtualization, and cloud platforms.
Lead cloud adoption, migration, and optimization initiatives across public, private, or hybrid environments.
Ensure adherence to cybersecurity policies, security controls, and risk management frameworks.
Support disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity planning activities.
Project & Program Management
Lead cross-functional technology projects from planning through implementation and post-deployment support.
Manage project timelines, budgets, resources, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
Coordinate with business units, vendors, and external partners to ensure successful project delivery.
Drive process automation and continuous improvement initiatives.
Team Leadership & Development
Lead, mentor, and develop technical teams, including system administrators, engineers, developers, analysts, and support staff.
Conduct performance management, coaching, workforce planning, and career development activities.
Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability, and technical excellence.
Support recruitment and onboarding of technical talent.
Stakeholder & Vendor Management
Partner with business leaders to understand requirements and deliver technology solutions that support organizational goals.
Communicate technical concepts and project updates to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Manage relationships with technology vendors, consultants, and service providers.
Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate technical requirements and service agreements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
8–12 years of progressive IT experience with at least 3–5 years in technical leadership or management roles.
Strong experience managing enterprise IT infrastructure, applications, cloud platforms, and technical operations.
Proven expertise in systems architecture, networking, virtualization, cloud computing, and cybersecurity.
Experience leading large-scale technology projects and cross-functional teams.
Strong knowledge of IT service management (ITSM), incident management, and operational best practices.
Excellent problem-solving, analytical, organizational, and leadership skills.
Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field.
Industry certifications such as PMP, ITIL, CISSP, CISM, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Azure Administrator, VMware, or equivalent.
Experience with DevOps practices, automation tools, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code.
Knowledge of enterprise platforms such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, ServiceNow, Salesforce, or similar technologies.
Experience leading cloud transformation and digital modernization initiatives.
